Quran Halaqa

Quran Halaqa - To improve your recitation of the Holy Qur'an.

By reading and reflecting over the Quran, one fulfils an obligation and is rewarded for it. Upon fulfilling this obligation, the Quran then becomes a witness for one on the Day of Judgement. The Holy Prophet says,"the Quran is a proof for you or against you."

It contains regulations and recommendations about all aspects of life and references to the Hereafter. Being so important, the Holy Quran must be read, written and recited correctly and clearly, so as not to create any sort of ambiguity or misunderstanding whatsoever.

Recitation has its own rhythm, music, sounds & effects which are very much helpful for language development, cognitive development & emotional development. It helps to practice pitch, voice inflection & volume. Through this, anyone can understand the words with different meaning but similar sounds.

“Verily the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Sahih - Al Bukhari]

For improving recitation of the Holy Quran there are the following steps :-

  • The first step is to understand the letters, their sounds, and their pronunciation. This will help in the proper recitation.
  • The second step is to practice the sound of each letter well. Learning the letters and understanding them will lead to a better dialect and better fluency in the Quran's recitation.
  • Learn Tajweed rules ; the word “Tajweed” basically means “improve or to accomplish in a better way.” In other words, it refers to the rules governing pronunciation.
  • Intonation - when to increase, when to slow down, and where to silence to perfect the recitation.

Learn about the proper way to recite the Holy Quran and much more with Shaikh Musa Abuzaghleh every Tuesday and Thursday @ West London Islamic Cultural Centre from 6:30 onwards.
